2020 Leverage Hackathon Challenge:
* To build out the onboarding process for a smart collar solution for dog owners.
Our Team Solution:
* Bark is an iOS mobile application for dog owners to track their dog’s location and health.
1. Dog owners who live in urban areas typically don’t let the dog off the leash. Most likely to escape and/or get loose.
2. Take the leash off in remote locations (if they can trust the dog to come back) or dog parks, not in cities or around cars
3. People will spend a lot to find their dog (private dog locator) - but don’t think about it until it happens. One interviewee mention to look up “Pickles found in Brooklyn” - this was her friend’s dog who was lost for months, hired a detective to find. Another interviewee also mentioned a private dog locator.
4. Dog’s health is very important - Vet check-ups, monthly medicine, vitals rather than exercise amount. Sometimes overreact and take dog to vet when not actually necessary - tracking vitals would bring some peace of mind and save money by less vet visits.
5. Current methods of finding dogs are through neighborhood apps or Tile which are multipurpose
6. Beeping - dogs can be trained to stop or be on alert
